ARC-Nucleart , nuclear to save art
GRENOBLE-FRANCE-March 13,2013-ARC-Nucléart is a unique laboratory in the world equipped with high-tech and nuclear installations, on an area of 3000 m2, a multidisciplinary team (chemists, physicists, technicians, restorers, curator, staff administrative) is dedicated to safeguarding heritage, working on museum collections or in historical monuments, but also on excavation sites to assist archaeologists. Currently within the framework of Marseille Provence, European Capital of Culture 2013, ARC -Nucléart was chosen to carry out two major projects. The conservation, restoration of a fleet of Greek ships and the support of this exceptional collection of wrecks of six ships dating from the end of the 6th century BC. in the 3rd century AD, for the City of Marseille (Marseille history museum). And the conservation and restoration of a Roman barge taken from the Rhône, during the summer of 2011, for the General Council of Rhône (Arles antique museum). These ships will be displayed in Marseille and Arles in September 2013.
